OverviewWe are looking to recruit a highly motivated paediatric ward team leader to join Raedwald Day Surgery Unit based at Ipswich Hospital. This Band 6 role will require someone who is motivated to develop themselves as a leader in a supportive environment to drive improvements in care whilst supporting junior colleagues. This is an excellent opportunity to join and lead a friendly team who strive in promoting the delivery of patient-centred, clinically effective and dynamic service to our paediatric patients. The paediatric team facilitates the pre-operative assessment on children who are coming in for day surgery, including orientation to the unit prior to their admission. Raedwald Day Surgery is a purpose-built unit with 4 operating theatres and dedicated spaces for adults, children and post-anaesthetic recovery. There are 24 adult cubicles, 7 children''s cubicles and a post-anaesthetic recovery area. The team is dedicated to facilitating same-day discharge of elective surgery patients.The unit is open Monday to Saturday from 7:15am until 8:00pm. There are no night shifts and Saturday working is on a 1 in 4 rotation. We are closed on Sundays and bank holidays. Our philosophy is that Time Matters to everyone, and across the Trust we focus on reducing time delays for both staff and patients.ResponsibilitiesProvide clinically effective, high-quality, individualized peri-operative patient care within the multi-disciplinary team, with an interest in Recovery nursing.Deliver patient care throughout the peri-operative pathway, including patient escort, anaesthetic care, scrubbing for surgical procedures, post-anaesthetic recovery, ward care, and nurse-led discharge.Promote a safe and attractive working environment conducive to learning.Contribute to the continuing development of peri-operative and professional practice, ensuring practice is evidence-based.Support the integration of clinical governance in all aspects of patient care delivery.Demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to achieve the learning outcomes of departmental programmes, trust, and unit competencies.Leadership and TeamLead a paediatric ward team, developing leadership in a supportive environment to drive improvements in care while supporting junior colleagues.Facilitate pre-operative assessment for children attending day surgery, including orientation to the unit prior to admission.About the Organisation and BenefitsWe are ESNEFT and we provide hospital and community health services across east Suffolk and north Essex.
