OverviewEast Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) are looking for a talented and motivated Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician with mechanical bias to join the Mechanical Engineering Team at the Bluebird Lodge site. The role focuses on the service and maintenance of air handling units across the site. You will provide high-quality service for the repair, maintenance or installation of plant, equipment, systems and building fabric across ESNEFT properties. Work includes Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), testing and calibration, fault finding, emergency response, defect correction and New works. Proposed Interview Date: Friday, 13 February 2026.ResponsibilitiesCarry out maintenance and repair of air handling units and related systems in accordance with PPM schedules.Undertake testing, calibration, fault finding, and emergency response as required.Complete work on building services plant and building fabric in line with Trust policies and industry standards.Work to develop multi-trade flexibility and competence across building and engineering plant and equipment maintenance.Qualifications and TrainingMust have completed a recognised trade apprenticeship and hold a level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent, plus relevant training or experience and specialist area training (e.g., air conditioning).Must complete BTEC Hospital Competent Persons accredited courses in writing for work on Specialist healthcare systems as required.Mandatory and statutory training as per Trust policy and appraisal process.Willingness to undertake additional training to support role requirements.Experience and SkillsPost-apprenticeship experience in non-routine maintenance of complex engineering plant and equipment, with broad understanding of other trades.Experience liaising with and supervising building and engineering contractors.Good communication and inter-personal skills; ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions.Desirable: computer systems experience; hospital maintenance experience; knowledge of statutory legislation, health and safety policies, and safe working procedures; lifting and handling; fire and asbestos awareness training.About UsWe are ESNEFT and provide hospital and community health services to nearly one million people across east Suffolk and north Essex.
