We deliver 28 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 380,000 residents.The RoleA rewarding opportunity has presented itself for a dedicated and driven individual to join our team as a Senior Tree Management Officer.In this role you will support the Team Leader Open Space Services to organise scale tree related programs, provide technical arboriculture advice to stakeholders, administer, maintain and improve Council''s Tree Inventory data, implement continuous improvements within the team and provide policy and strategic advice/direction in regard to tree management and the urban forest within the team and the wider organisation.Duties Will Include But Not Be Limited ToDevelop tender documentation and lead the procurement process for arboricultural service providersProvide ongoing contract administration of tree related contractsOrganise and supervise the delivery of both proactive and reactive tree planting, tree maintenance and tree inspection work programsAssist in preparing grant applications and other business casesProvide input for budget submissions and support the review of Council''s Fees & Charges.Prepare presentations, briefings, correspondence, reports and issues papers on tree related issues as required.Work with internal and external stakeholders to integrate and increase the urban forest into urban planning and other large projects.Provide expert arboriculture advice to the community, Council staff and legal proceedings, including appearing as an expert witness for Council where requiredFor a full list of duties, click here to review the position description.You Will HaveAQF5 in Arboriculture and/or significant demonstrated experience in the management of public trees of more than 5 yearsClass C driver licenceWH&S construction white CardQRTA or TRAQ or other Tree Risk Assessment QualificationAdvanced level of computer skills including the MS suite of programs and use of technical corporate systems in or equivalent to GIS mapping systems, Asset Management Systems, financial and record management systemsAbility to undertake visual tree assessments, interpret information and provide relevant advice regarding short, medium and long term options for management of treesKnowledge of issues affecting urban forest management and industry best practicesReport writing skills particularly in the field of Tree ManagementExperience in reviewing, developing and implementing Strategies, Policies, Procedures, Plans, Studies, Guidelines, ContractsExperience in contract procurement, contract administration and management & contractor supervision in the field of Tree ManagementExtensive knowledge of the issues affecting urban trees and management principles in a local government contextThe salary range for this opportunity starts at $104,465 + Car Allowance + 12% super.
