The role supports production objectives by ensuring welding assets operate at optimum performance, meet quality standards, and comply with rail safety, statutory, and client requirements. This position operates within a safety-critical rail environment, requiring strict adherence to safety, quality, and compliance frameworks.What You''ll DoPerform planned and reactive maintenance on spot welding guns including servo, pneumatic, and manual systems.Inspect, service, repair, and replace electrodes, caps, arms, shunts, transformers, hoses, cables, dressers, and gun bodies.Conduct gun alignment, force checks, stroke verification, tip dressing, and tip change activities to maintain weld quality.Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic faults affecting welding performance.Support production changeovers, commissioning, and ramp-up activities to minimise downtime.Assist Manufacturing Engineering with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance welding equipment reliability.Ensure welding equipment performance supports compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and quality plans.Work in accordance with the site Quality Management System (QMS), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and customer specifications.Support audits, inspections, and quality investigations related to welding equipment performance.Ensure documentation and traceability meet rolling stock manufacturing requirements.Comply with site EHS policies, life-saving rules, SWMS, and permit-to-work systems.Identify hazards, report near misses, and participate in safety observations and toolbox talks.Ensure isolation, lock-out/tag-out, and safe access procedures are followed at all times.Maintain a safety-first approach in a high-risk, production-critical environment.Record maintenance activities, breakdowns, and corrective actions in the CMMS (e.g. Maximo, SAP, or equivalent).Support the development and maintenance of a complete and accurate asset register for spot welding equipment.Provide clear shift handovers and technical reports to supervisors and production teams.Assist with data capture and reporting to support reliability, availability, and performance improvement.Work closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and EHS teams.Support and supervise contractors working on welding equipment when required.Provide technical guidance and mentoring to apprentices or junior technicians.What You''ll NeedProven experience as a Spot Gun Technician in rail, automotive, or heavy manufacturing environments.Strong knowledge of resistance spot welding systems used in rolling stock production.Demonstrated fault-finding capability across mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.Experience working in safety-critical, high-compliance environments.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, shift-based production setting.Trade qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or equivalent (preferred).White CardService line: GWS Segment #J-18808-Ljbffr
