OverviewThe City of Canterbury Bankstown is one of the largest Councils in NSW with the most culturally, socially and economically diverse communities in Sydney. We deliver 29 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 370,000 residents.The roleCBCity is seeking a skilled and reliable mechanic to join our team. In this role, you''ll be responsible for carrying out daily maintenance and repairs on Council''s fleet of heavy and light vehicles, plant and equipment. You''ll take pride in ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with WHS and industry standards. This role is primarily based at Greenacre, with occasional travel to other Council sites. The position offers a Monday - Friday work week with a scheduled day off every fortnight.DutiesCarry out preventative and corrective maintenance on Council vehicles, plant, and equipment.Complete tasks on time, to a high standard, and in a cost-effective way.Prepare parts lists and maintain accurate job records and paperwork.Support workshop cleanliness and safe work practices.Perform additional duties as directed by workshop supervisors.For a full list of duties, review the position description.You will haveTrade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle MechanicClass HR Drivers licence (or ability to attain within 6 months)Experience and knowledge in the corrective & preventive repair of Medium & Heavy Plant and EquipmentExperience and knowledge of suspension systems, automatic and manual transmissions, diesel and petrol enginesSufficient knowledge and experience of hydraulic and pneumatic operating systems and components to perform diagnostic workExperience in working to manufacturers service and maintenance schedulesThe salary range for this opportunity starts at $71,820 (Grade D, Step1) + 12% super.
