The Career Medical Officer will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.What you''ll be doingWork with consultant medical practitioners in accordance with delegated responsibilities and own level of competence to provide high level medical services to patients presenting to the Emergency Department, in order to provide high quality, safe, patient-centred care. This includes admission, assessment and ongoing treatment of adults and children with a full range of medical and surgical conditions including occasional trauma.Perform procedures as approved and/or supervised, to contribute to patient care and professional development objectives.Oversee patient discharge, ensuring that all relevant protocols are followed and liaison with clinical care providers in community settings, so there is effective follow up and continuity of care of patients after discharge.Manage workload volumes cooperatively with other staff to promote timely treatment of patients presenting to the ED and reduce treatment delays.Participating in after-hours overtime and on-call rosters.Where you''ll be workingNepean Hospital has 24 hour on site general radiology and CT cover with an on site radiographer, radiology Trainees and on call consultants.Essential requirementsMBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.At least seven years of full-time clinical experience in an Australian or New Zealand Radiology department.Demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in the last 2 years in a hospital setting appropriate to the needs of the position.This position is subject to an appropriate supervision level which can be supported by the health agency.
