Together we can do more.ResponsibilitiesProvide high-level support, strategic advice and operational leadership to the media and communications function of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD).The Public Affairs Advisor will oversee the development and delivery of key strategic and reactive communications, including management of the coordination and preparation of District-wide communications materials on a range of platforms, including digital channels, to support key objectives of the LHD and NSW Health.The role will lead the development and implementation of key strategies that align with the priorities of the LHD and key NSW Government health objectives. It will support the Head of Media, Corporate Communications & Public Affairs in the operational running of the media component of the Unit, including the identification and management of contentious issues, proactive and reactive media management, stakeholder liaison and digital content development. The role will work in close consultation with the Manager Media and Communications to ensure strategic and operational priority alignment.The Public Affairs Advisor will also provide high-level advisory support to the leadership team to assist decision-making in the management of media and contentious issues.Qualifications and Requirements- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in communications, media, journalism, public affairs or a related field and/or strong demonstrated experience in a related role.- Applicable vaccination requirements for a Category B role.Note: This is a temporarily funded position until 28 March 2027 with the possibility of an extension subject to funding.Equal Opportunity and Safety: ISLHD is an equal opportunity employer.
