Working closely with teaching staff, the Laboratory Technician Coordinator, and the Director of Learning & Teaching, you will ensure laboratories are well prepared, compliant, and ready for outstanding student learning experiences.This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a practical environment, values precision and safety, and enjoys supporting both staff and students.Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with Science teachers to prepare and support practical lessons, demonstrations, and experimentsPrepare solutions, media, stains, and materials required for laboratory activitiesAssist with demonstrations and, where appropriate, student instruction in the safe use and care of equipmentMaintain safe systems for chemical storage, handling, disposal, and laboratory securityPrepare and maintain risk assessments for laboratory and preparation activitiesMaintain inventories, coordinate ordering, stocktaking, and labelling of equipment and chemicalsService, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment and preparation areasSupport the care and coordination of flora and fauna in accordance with relevant regulationsAssist with the use of learning technologies and computer systems within the Science DepartmentUphold and model CREST''s values and behaviours in all aspects of the roleAbout YouRelevant qualifications in science or laboratory technology (Certificate IV or higher), or demonstrated equivalent experiencePrevious experience as a Science Laboratory Technician or in a similar laboratory-based role (education setting preferred)Strong knowledge of laboratory OHS, chemical handling, risk assessments, and compliance requirementsHighly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing prioritiesConfident using computer systems (e.g. Microsoft Word and Excel), with willingness to learn systems such as SynergeticA collaborative team player with well-developed communication skillsReliable, flexible, and proactive, with a strong work ethic and professional approachCommitment to confidentiality and discretion in a school environmentA genuine willingness to support and uphold the Christian ethos and values of CREST EducationWhy Join CREST Education?CREST Education a values-based Christian organisation committed to excellence, learning, wellbeing, and service.
