The MBBS is the only undergraduate medical degree in Western Australia, with a strong focus on equity, including preferential selection of students from rural, Indigenous Australian and other equity backgrounds.CMS has an extensive clinical education footprint, with:Over 10 affiliated metropolitan hospital placement sitesHealth campuses in Midland (Perth) and Kalgoorlie (Goldfields, WA)Membership in the Rural Clinical School WAStrong partnerships with metropolitan and rural primary care and community-based healthcare providersThis dynamic, future-focused environment provides a unique and rewarding context for senior professional leadership.About the roleReporting directly to the Dean, and working closely with the Faculty General Manager, the School Business Manager provides high-level executive, strategic and operational leadership to support the School''s mission and objectives.You will act as the key liaison between the School and central University service areas, ensuring the efficient delivery of services, effective management of resources, and alignment with Faculty and University priorities. As a key leader within CMS, you will play a critical role in shaping and delivering the School''s strategic direction.Key responsibilitiesIn this role, you will:Provide strategic business advice and executive support to the Dean and Associate DeanLead the day-to-day operations of Curtin Medical SchoolManage, mentor and develop professional staff, fostering a positive and high-performing team cultureCoordinate and deliver complex projects aligned to School, Faculty and University prioritiesLead business planning, business case development and continuous improvement initiativesDevelop, manage and monitor budgets in consultation with Finance and senior leadershipAct as the Head of School''s delegate on operational matters and committeesBuild strong, collaborative relationships with internal service providers and external stakeholdersContribute to Faculty-wide initiatives and communities of practice under the direction of the Faculty General ManagerModel Curtin University''s Values and Signature BehavioursSelection criteriaAbout youYou are a confident and credible leader with substantial experience in senior business or operational management within a complex organisation. You bring a strategic mindset, strong financial acumen, and a collaborative leadership style, with the ability to influence, engage stakeholders and lead teams through change.We are looking for:Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education trainingSubstantial experience in a leadership and management role with demonstrated achievement of results through the tactical use of resources to support business needs.Demonstrated experience in business planning through detailed research and analysis on a range of issues and the ability to develop, implement and evaluate business improvement strategies.Demonstrated ability to manage and implement change.Demonstrated team leadership and management skills with the ability to create and maintain an effective customer focussed and efficient team cultureA strong understanding of financial and budget management.Demonstrated high level communication and negotiation skills and the ability to resolve stakeholder concerns.Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage and influence others and a proven capacity to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with a wide range of internal and external groupsDesirable:A relevant postgraduate qualificationExperience within the tertiary education sectorThis role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to medical education and healthcare outcomes in Western Australia and beyond.
