OverviewWe are seeking to establish a pool of Home Economics Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.Byford Secondary College (SC) is a newer school in Perth''s southern suburbs. We support tailored services for students with disabilities through our Integrated Facility and are committed to ongoing pathway planning and review so that each student can reach their full potential.Find out more about our school by visiting byfordsc.wa.edu.au or Schools Online.The RoleThe role of the Home Economics Assistant is to be responsible for the prior preparation of resources that assist teachers in the delivery of educational courses. This role spans three subject areas: Food, Textiles and Child Development. Tasks include weighing, measuring, and distributing food for Food classes; cutting and organisation of fabrics for Textiles and Child Development classes; and maintenance of the learning environment by maintaining equipment, materials, and stocked resources. The role may also involve cleaning of classrooms and resources during working hours and, during school vacation periods, more detailed cleaning of equipment and rooms. The role may involve assisting with food ordering and food storage requirements. Computer literacy is highly desirable.As the Home Economics Assistant you should have a proactive, positive approach, work well autonomously and as part of a team, prioritise tasks, demonstrate initiative, and be highly organised and efficient.
