Job Description

Flying Bark Productions is a dynamic and innovative animation studio dedicated to pushing the boundaries of character animation and storytelling. We are working on projects such as Avatar: The Last Airbender feature film, Netflix''s Ghostbusters animated series and Stranger Things animated series, and Tales From Outer Suburbia by Shaun Tan.This is an expression of interest for a short-term contract running from November 2025 until April 2026. The role can be worked remotely if aligned to Sydney hours.Senior CG Lighting Artist Responsibilities and QualificationsWork closely with compositors and creative leads to achieve the creative brief set out by the VFX Supervisor.Use tools and software provided, including Arnold in Katana and Nuke, to deliver high quality visual style.Maintain consistency of lighting across all shots and optimize and troubleshoot lighting and rendering problems in a fast-paced environment.Create a pre-composite tree in Nuke that combines rendered elements.Work closely with compositors to bring shots from lighting through to final while maintaining timing and production quotas given by the production coordinators.Interpret creative briefs verbally or visually.Maintain good team dynamics and collaborate effectively with the team.Problem solve, predict potential issues, self-manage and complete tasks within production deadlines.Communicate and seek information when necessary.Adapt, be flexible and responsive to changes.Minimum requirement: 6+ years production experience in 3D animated films and/or animated episodic.Portfolio demonstrating mature graphic stylization of reality, preferably in the vein of Spiderverse, Entergalactic, Arcane and The Witness (Love, Death, Robots).Experience lighting and rendering with Arnold using Katana.Experience in Nuke to create a pre-composite tree.Ability to maintain consistency of lighting across all shots.Ability to optimize and troubleshoot lighting and rendering problems in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work within a team and maintain good team dynamics.Ability to problem solve and predict potential problems with assigned tasks.Ability to self-manage and complete tasks within production deadlines.Ability to communicate and seek information when necessary.Be adaptable, flexible and responsive to changes.Flying Bark Productions is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr
