Add expected salary to your profile for insightsReporting to the Project Manager, the Analytical Technician will be responsible for coordinating, performing and overseeing the chemical analysis of the battery materials produced by Gelion and/or our collaboration partners and other third parties. This role plays an essential part in Gelion''s quality control process and will directly inform and support our R&D.Responsibilities Include:Perform handson chemical and physical analysis of battery materials produced by Gelion or supplied by partners using the inhouse analytical suite.Develop and validate testing methods suitable for Gelion''s materials and equipment, creating custom methods as required for testing exploratory materials where properties may vary from baseline materials.Process and analyse research results using basic statistical principles and distribute findings to relevant members of the Technology Team.Present results during R&D meetings to wider Technology Team.Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to integrate analysis instruments and results into Gelion''s LIMS system where possible.Work with the Gelion Lab Manager to perform regular maintenance, calibrations and servicing on analytical suite instruments, reporting repair needs and coordinating service and repairs with suppliers.Conduct stock takes of instrument consumables and coordinate orders for consumables and spare parts.Train other team members on the operation of instruments.Collaborate with team members to identify and develop new analysis techniques to fill knowledge gaps using existing equipment, procuring new equipment or outsourcing analysis as appropriate.Support the Project Manager with the purchasing of new analytical equipment by identifying specifications, liaising with suppliers and creating internal safety documentation.Liaise with relevant university and/or commercial testing laboratories for outsourced analysis, packing and shipping samples, receiving reports and interpreting before distributing.Candidate Profile:Honours degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.2+ years of experience working with analytical instruments is preferred but not essential.Basic but demonstrable understanding of analytical techniques and chemical laboratory practices is preferred.Commitment to safe working practices is essential.A highly organised individual with good planning and time management skills.Strong communication skills are desirable.A keen eye for detail and a meticulous approach to conducting accurate analysis.Experience of conducting research in a group or team setting would be beneficial.Strong MS Office skills including the use of PowerPoint to display results.Previous exposure to method development or qualitycontrolled laboratory environments is advantageous.A demonstrable passion for energy storage and renewable technology (Desirable).Gelion is an agile and dynamic listed business at the forefront of a once in a lifetime revolution.
