Ready for the challenge?The Role A Senior Software Engineer responsible for the execution of the backend features, with a deep technical understanding and how it translates to representing user needs. You will have operated in a hyper growth startup with experience building SaaS products. You will also have a deep understanding of the key challenges engineers face and a firm grasp on design principles in prioritizing key features and capabilities. Your superpower is how to bridge the gap between technical specifics and business needs effortlessly and turn high-level designs into real-world solutions. You thrive in challenging situations, and you appreciate the dynamics of a flexible, flat-structured work environment. You are quick to grasp the nuances and complexities of developing an AI product healthcare internationally. Every feature you ship strips away admin burden and returns clinicians to their patients.What you''ll doBuild enterprise-grade user management: Develop features that let organisations self-manage their usersprovisioning, role syncing from IdPs, team policies, data retention, and MFA enforcementDeliver critical auth capabilities: Implement security features like single logout, IdP-initiated logout, idle lock, and session management that enterprises expectDesign for multi-region scale: Build systems that support data residency requirements and scale reliably as Heidi grows into mid-market and enterprise customersKeep patient data secure: Your work directly protects sensitive health information through robust access policies and up-to-date security controlsGrow with the domain: Start with foundational auth work, then take on increasing ownership of User Management as the team and product evolveShip with quality: Write clean, testable code with strong API designthese systems are depended on by every other teamWhat we''ll look forStrong full-stack or backend experience (Python preferred; TypeScript a plus)Solid understanding of API design, data modeling, and building secure, reliable servicesComfortable with distributed systems concepts: multi-region, caching, eventual consistencySecurity-conscious mindsetyou think about edge cases, access control, and audit trailsTrack record delivering features independently in a fast-paced environmentMotivated by building infrastructure that other teams and customers depend onExperience with identity or auth systems (SSO, OIDC, SAML, SCIM, MFA) is a plus but not requiredWhat do we believe in?
