Resource Recovery Facility AttendantPermanent Part Time 63 hours per fortnight.The OpportunityThe Resource Recovery Facility Attendant is responsible for assisting members of the public with item disposal and segregation of various forms of waste to facilitate appropriate disposal and/or resource recovery. The role supports the Waste Services Team Leader and other site staff in the daily management of resource recovery operations and the surrounding environment at the Warrens Hill Landfill and Resource Recovery Centre and other Council waste facilities.What Council Offers63 hour fortnight, with the ability to work up to 76 hours worked across a rotating roster that includes some weekend workUp to 12.5% Superannuation employer contribution for contributing membersUp to 5 weeks annual leave plus 17.5% annual leave loading (prorata)Up to 15 days paid sick/parental leave (prorata)Salary Packaging optionsEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Accredited Mental Health First Aid OfficersCorporate Uniforms (annual allowance) and PPE suppliedAnnual Flu vaccinations + Skin ChecksGeneral Salary InformationThis position is classified as Level 3C under the Hinchinbrook Shire Council Local Government Officers (Stream B) Certified Agreement. The salary is $64,816 per annum (prorata) and $32.80 per hour including construction allowance, plus superannuation.Key ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate strong customer service skills by responding to wasterelated enquiries and providing guidance to customers on correct sorting at disposal areas.Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the role of waste management within a local government context.Operate and maintain plant and equipment including covering waste on weekends to manage disposal of waste materials within the active landfill area as required.Conduct maintenance activities such as litter management, leachate monitoring, mowing and cleaning.Operate and maintain weighbridge facilities and equipment gatehouse, weighbridge and transfer station in a fit and appropriate manner.Undertake resource recovery activities to support environmental and operational objectives.Work as a team member and communicate with other staff to ensure the effective implementation of waste operations.See the Position Description for a more extensive list of key responsibilities.Our Ideal CandidateOur ideal candidate takes pride in delivering great service to the community and being part of a handson team. A focus on safety, a positive attitude, and willingness to maintain a clean, wellorganised site will help them succeed in this role.Key Selection CriteriaMandatory:Flexibility to work across a rotating roster that includes some weekend work;Sound oral and written communication skills, with the ability to problemsolve and negotiate effectively;Basic computer skills, experience with MS Office suite and ability to learn to operate weighbridge software;Demonstrated experience working under limited supervision and contributing to WHS and environmental protection requirements;Asbestos Handling qualification (or willing to acquire);Current Queensland ''C'' Class Driver''s Licence (minimum P1).Desirable:Experience with Mandalay or other electronic wastetracking software systems;Agriculture Chemical Distribution and Control (ACDC) training;Front End Loader.Working Conditions and Physical RequirementsApplicants must be able to safely and competently carry out strenuous labouring and manual handling activities.
