We are committed to ensuring culturally safe workplaces and service responses for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.About the RoleWe are seeking an Aboriginal Project Officer to strengthen cultural safety competency across specialist homelessness services in NSW. This role will engage directly with Aboriginal staff, service users, and communities, supporting the implementation of projects that enhance cultural competency and drive the adoption of the ACCORD framework to improve service outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.You will also respond to the needs of the Aboriginal Homelessness Sector and contribute to policy, advocacy, and research initiatives, ensuring Aboriginal voices and perspectives are embedded in our work to end homelessness.Key ResponsibilitiesEngage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and communities to identify challenges and opportunities associated with homelessness and the service system.Support and implement projects that increase cultural competency within homelessness services.Promote, evaluate, and monitor adoption of the ACCORD framework across NSW.Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, service providers, and government agencies.Contribute to policy, advocacy, and campaign initiatives that reflect Aboriginal needs and priorities.Deliver projects using sound project management principles, ensuring outcomes are achieved.Support colleagues to build trust and respectful relationships with Aboriginal stakeholders.Facilitate the Homelessness NSW Aboriginal Community of Practice.About YouWe are looking for someone who is passionate about improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, with strong experience in community engagement and project delivery.At least 3 years'' experience in Aboriginal community engagement, preferably within homelessness or related services.Tertiary qualifications in Social Welfare, Social Work, Community Work, or equivalent experience.Strong communication and relationship-building skills.National Police Check and valid Driver''s Licence.Experience in homelessness services or related sectors.Understanding of policy and advocacy in Aboriginal affairs.Why Join Us?Play a key role in strengthening cultural safety in homelessness services across NSW.9-day fortnight and 35 hours week.Pay range $96,643- $108,455Work in a collaborative, values-driven team.Opportunity to influence systemic change and advocate for Aboriginal communities.Competitive salary (SCHADS award) with salary packaging benefits.Note that only Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander candidates should apply as this is an identified position.If you have any questions about the position please email [email protected] using the subject line: Aboriginal Project Officer enquiry via EthicalJobs.Job posted on: 29th Jan 2026Sydney > CBD, Inner West & Eastern Suburbs Sydney #J-18808-Ljbffr
