If you are a principal safety expert passionate about transforming safety performance and driving a proactive, risk-based culture, we want to hear from you.The OpportunityReporting to the Director Corporate & Community, you will lead the Councils Work Health and Safety (WHS) and Return to Work (RTW) functions. This pivotal role provides strategic advice to leadership while coaching employees and contractors to move safety from a "compliance task" to a "core value".Your key responsibilities will include:Leading and mentoring the WHS team to set strategic goals focused on reducing physical and psychological injuries.Governing the WHS Management System (WHSMS) to ensure it remains effective and adheres to current NSW legislation.Driving integrated risk ownership by coaching managers and supervisors to embed risk-based decision-making into daily workflows.Overseeing incident investigations and proactively managing the end-to-end Workers Compensation and RTW processes.Managing the WHS training programme, delivering inductions, specialised training, and facilitating the Health and Safety Committee.Conducting internal audits and reviews to identify incident trends and provide evidence-based reporting to the Executive and Council.Integrating safety into procurement and major infrastructure project planning to ensure contractor compliance.Coordinating wellness initiatives, including corporate health surveillance and psychological wellness programs.The location for this role is the Max Centre in Moree.For more information, please download the position description --> CLICK HERE.*If you are accessing this job advertisement via Seek - please go to our website to be able to download the position description (YouYou are an analytical and organised professional with compassionate interpersonal skills. You have a proven ability to influence management at all levels and translate complex statutory requirements into practical operational policies.To succeed in this role, youll bring:Tertiary qualifications in WHS, Risk Management, or a related discipline.Demonstrated expertise in governing WHSMS within complex, multi-site operational environments.Comprehensive knowledge of NSW WHS and Workers Compensation legislation.Extensive experience in incident investigation and managing complex RTW cases.Strong leadership experience, specifically in mentoring a team of safety professionals.Proven ability to manage contractor safety and integrate WHS into project planning.Required Tickets, Licences and/or Qualifications:General Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).Class C Drivers Licence.Previous Local Government experience.HLTPAT005 Drug and Alcohol Collector Training.Current First Aid Certification.Required Clearances and Checks:National Criminal History Check.Working with Children Check Clearance (NSW).Pre-employment medical, which may include drug and alcohol testing.Ready to lead a modern safety culture in the Moree Plains Shire?
