Newmont was founded in 1921 and has been publicly traded since 1925.Your impactReporting to the Head, Health Safety & Sustainability, Africa Asia Pacific (AAP), in the position of Specialist, Health & Safety, you will lead the consistent implementation and continuous improvement of Newmont''s health and safety standards, policies and programs across Newmont''s AAP regional mine site operations.As part of our team you will alsoAssess Health & Safety (H&S) programs including fatality risk management, emergency response and health & wellness to identify risks and recommend improvementsParticipate in compliance, assurance, audit and governance activities, and support the implementation and monitoring of corrective actionsAnalyse H&S events, trends and performance data to uncover systemic gaps and drive ongoing improvementFacilitate incident investigations and ensure timely communication of lessons learnedAssist site-based operational teams to develop and maintain effective health and safety management plansCoordinate, plan, deliver and evaluate regional rapid response training and monitor and assess emergency response preparedness within the business unitDevelop and disseminate H&S metrics and performance reports to support informed decision-making and measure progress against safety objectivesFoster a culture of regional teams'' cross-collaboration and knowledge sharing to strengthen H&S outcomes and create business value across Newmont''s operations.Prerequisites for your success in the roleUniversity Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Science, Engineering, or relatedKnowledge of mining industry-recognized health and safety systems, standards and processesUnderstanding of relevant regulations and compliance requirementsDemonstrated experience in leading health and safety investigation processes, root cause analysis, risk management and emergency responseCompetent skills in health and safety systems, metrics and reporting for compliance and performance monitoringProven multi-disciplinary team leadership experience with ability to influence and communicate change.Your work environmentThis permanent position will be offered on a full-time, flexible work arrangement from Brisbane or Perth in Australia.
