The purpose of this job is: We have an opening for a Head of Clinical Safety to join Bupa APACs Clinical Governance Team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing leadership and advice, actively partnering with APAC Business Services in healthcare service co-design and undertaking independent assurance to ensure robust clinical governance systems are in place to deliver high-quality healthcare outcomes for our customers, patients and residents. With your advanced clinical expertise, youll offer strategic leadership in clinical governance, emphasising clinical risk management, collaborative learning, and continual systems enhancement. Youll effectively engage and partner with both clinical and non-clinical stakeholders across Australia and New Zealand. This position is offered as permanent, full-time hours based in at our Melbourne offices with flexible, hybrid work arrangements available. Key responsibilities include: Champion a culture of clinical safety, learning, and continuous improvement by embedding Bupas Enterprise Clinical Governance Policy and APAC Clinical Governance Framework across Business Services. Lead the maturation of clinical safety and risk management programs throughout the APAC region. Collaborate with the APAC Clinical Governance Team to analyse and interpret clinical incidents, complaints, and other data to proactively identify and mitigate safety risks. Provide expert advice and support on contemporary clinical governance and risk management practices to Business Services and other organisational functions. Identify, co-design, and implement clinical policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and safe care delivery. Lead the development and execution of the APAC Clinical Governance annual assurance plan, including conducting assurance activities to evaluate and strengthen clinical systems and processes. Prepare and present reports to key governance bodies including the APAC Clinical Governance Committee, Executive Risk Committee, ANZ Board Risk Committee, and Global Clinical Governance Committee. Support organisational learning by identifying development needs and leading or contributing to coaching and educational initiatives to build clinical governance capability. What is needed to make it possible : A nursing degree or equivalent health professional qualification with current unconditional and unrestricted professional AHPRA registration. Postgraduate qualifications in a related field, including clinical governance, health services management, healthcare risk management or equivalent is highly desirable. In addition, youll bring to the role: At least five years of clinical governance and risk management experience gained within a healthcare and/or hospital setting. Strong knowledge of clinical safety principles, regulatory compliance and contemporary governance frameworks. Proven ability to lead strategic programs that uplift clinical safety, risk maturity and governance capability across diverse teams and regions. Advanced analytical skills to interpret clinical data, identify trends and drive proactive risk mitigation. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior leaders. Demonstrated experience in policy development, assurance planning and highlevel governance reporting.
