The school contains a support unit with 8 classes and is partially selective, with a selective class in each of Years 7 to 10. The school is the oldest public high school on the North Coast and has a long-standing reputation for academic, cultural and sporting achievement. 18% of students identify as having an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background. All students participate in a wide range of cultural recognition and learning experiences focusing on local Bundjalung culture, language and dance. The school''s permanent staffing entitlement in 2025 is 67.2 teaching staff and 18 non-teaching staff. The school employs a number of additional teaching and non-teaching staff from school base and equity funding; including a Business Manager, Transition Adviser and Head Teacher Administration. Our executive staff is stable. Our teachers are diverse in both skills and experience, with approximately 20% in their early career. Specific Selection Criteria - 1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with mild intellectual disability (secondary) and/or autism (secondary). - 2. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to maintain effective partnerships with students, parents, the community and colleagues to support student learning and engagement. - 3. Demonstrated classroom management skills that support the learning, behavioural and wellbeing needs of a range of students. Conditions A Relocation Support Payment of $5,000 up to $8,000 will be available for eligible applicants. An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
