We are an Australian owned sugar milling and refining company operates 3 sugar mills and a refinery in the Northern Rivers region of NSW. Identified as one of the largest agricultural and manufacturing sectors in the region, employing over 350 people directly and a further 2500 indirectly to support the local industry. The region, known for its stunning beaches, rivers, fishing and natural wonders extends across seven shires including Tweed, Byron Bay, Ballina and the Clarence Valley. Harwood is situated on the Clarence River near the coastal and historical port town of Yamba. We have a Fugal Operator role available in the refinery at Harwood. The position requires shift work year round on a rotating roster. Other duties (apart from operating your station) will include undertaking Preventative Maintenance routines that include inspection, monitoring and cleaning of plant as well as recording plant operations data and sampling of products and materials. The Fugal Operator is responsible for operation of the Fugal station, producing crystal sugar to meet key parameters. Other duties may include operating bagging / packaging lines, utilising your skills on a forklift for loading trucks or dispatch duties. Qualifications Previous operating experience in a continuous process and/or packaging plant would be beneficial Food Safety and HACCP knowledge or experience Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to make sound decisions based on a mixture of analysis, experience and judgement Commitment and good attitude to safety and culture Willingness to follow directions Teamwork and willingness to co-operatively share knowledge and expertise Organisational skills and ability to prioritise Flexibility to work rotating shift roster and be available for overtime Sound problem solving and trouble shooting skills Mechanical aptitude How to Apply To be considered for this role, please upload a cover letter outlining your suitability for the role and resume.Applications close16 February 2026.
