DFP Recruitment is seeking an experienced Data Architect to join our federal Government Client team to provide thought leadership in Data Architecture, Data Modelling, Design, and Integration. Responsible for modelling and governing semantic data structures, ontologies and knowledge graphs to enable consistent, high-quality and future-ready data architecture. Responsibilities Architect data solutions to support our clients projects/programs, maximizing the data and analytics ecosystem and associated technologies. Apply analytical thinking with experience in Knowledge Representation and Reasoning (KRR), including designing and implementing ontologies, taxonomies, or semantic models to support AI/ML applications; assess complex data relationships and structures systematically. Demonstrate curiosity and a learning mindset with interest in semantic technologies, ontologies and knowledge graphs. Integrate KRR models with AI/ML pipelines to enable improved prediction, classification, or recommendation outcomes. Identify data inconsistencies and propose (or input into) potential solutions. Adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment with evolving data models. Ensure attention to detail and accuracy of data requirements and models. Manage stakeholder relationships and associated risks. Develop an agreed work-plan with key success indicators, milestones and outcomes. Provide regular reporting against success and effort. Deliver strategic data solutions, advice and guidance. Develop frameworks, guidelines and other relevant data-related assets. Manage scope and direct a team in the delivery of outcomes. Essential Skills Familiarity with data mesh, data fabric, or modern data architectures. Experience in AI/ML model operationalisation. Experience working with knowledge graphs in enterprise or regulated environments. Familiarity with data governance frameworks and information architecture best practices. Understanding of ethical AI principles and data privacy frameworks. Working understanding of, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of data security controls. Provide guidance on conceptual, logical and physical data models. Highly Desirable Experience with graph database ontology and knowledge graphs (RDF, OWL, SPARQL, SHACL, GraphQL). Experience with development of ontologies and taxonomies. Experience with semantic technologies (SPARQL, Protg, Neo4j, GraphDB or similar). Mapping structured and unstructured data to semantic models. Mapping data lineage, standards and governance; developing detailed data artefacts for ontology and data models.
