Responsibilities and Required Capabilities: Design modern end-to-end Azure data architectures, covering ingestion, storage, transformation, modelling, security, and consumption. Work closely with stakeholders to understand data needs and translate requirements into Azure-native designs. Design and oversee implementation of Azure data platform components including Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL, and Azure Databricks. Develop data ingestion and transformation pipelines using Azure Data Factory and/or Synapse Pipelines. Define and implement Lakehouse architectures leveraging Delta Lake and Databricks. Create high-quality design artefacts such as HLDs, LLDs, data flow diagrams, lineage maps, and architecture decision records. Ensure robust data governance using Microsoft Purview for cataloguing, lineage, classifications, and policy enforcement. Implement Azure-native security controls including RBAC, Defender for Cloud, Private Endpoints, Key Vault, and network isolation. Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve technical challenges and ensure solution integrity. Required Technical Capabilities: 7+ years experience designing enterprise data solutions, with at least 3+ years focused on Azure. Strong data modelling experience across conceptual, logical, and physical layers. Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory/Synapse Pipelines for ETL/ELT workloads. Knowledge of Azure Event Hub, Service Bus, and streaming architectures using Azure Stream Analytics or Databricks streaming. Experience implementing Lakehouse patterns using Databricks + Delta Lake. Strong understanding of Azure security including IAM, Private Link, VNETs, NSGs, and Key Vault. Familiarity with Microsoft Purview for governance, metadata, lineage, and data quality management. Proficiency in SQL and Python for data engineering and analytics. Experience with Terraform or Bicep for Azure infrastructure-as-code, plus CI/CD practices for data workloads. Required Certification & Industry Experience: Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related degree. Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203) or Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification strongly preferred. Experience in Utilities, Energy, or other regulated industries is beneficial.
