The Primary Care and Community Health Unit provides services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers, including health promotion, prevention, early detection, assessment, treatment and continuing care. Services are delivered in centres, homes, other community venues and via telehealth. Brighter Beginnings is a government initiative to support families with information and access to services to improve participation in universal health, education and family services, with evidence-based supports for families with additional needs. Role This initiative aligns with NSW Health First 2000 Days, emphasizing the period from conception to age 5 for lifelong health. The role will lead the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Brighter Beginnings initiative, providing 4-year Health and Development Checks (HDC) in early childhood settings. Responsibilities include: Line management of Allied Health Assistants working in early childhood settings. KPI data management, reporting and evaluation of the 4-year HDC and STEPS programs. Planning and coordinating 4-year Health and Development Checks across the District. Coordination and alignment with the STEPS program. Ensuring clinical competencies and training for Allied Health Assistants and all staff providing HDCs. Coordinate rostering of nurses and allied health staff from Child and Family Health to participate in 4-year HDC in collaboration with Nurse Unit Managers. What You Will Bring To The Role Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy with current AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist. For Speech Pathology, a Bachelors or Masters degree eligible for membership of Speech Pathology Australia. Extensive experience in assessment, planning and evaluating therapy interventions with children aged 0-5 years with developmental difficulties/diagnoses. Clinical consultation experience within a community-based multidisciplinary team. Strong negotiation, decision-making and advisory skills with ability to build and maintain professional relationships and external collaborations. Excellent oral and written communication skills with proficient use of technology in a health care setting. Strong clinical reasoning, teaching skills, and ability to provide senior supervision to staff and students. Ability to support and line manage staff including rostering, recruitment, onboarding, ongoing professional development and performance management. Experience developing and implementing outcome measures or quality improvement practices and reporting outcomes to senior staff. Current Drivers Licence and willingness to travel within the LHD for work.
