ABOUT THE ROLE The Club is seeking to appoint an exceptional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our Executive Leadership Team. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to help accelerate the Clubs future success. The CFO plays a pivotal role in shaping the Clubs longterm financial sustainability and enabling our strategic priorities. This role provides highimpact leadership across financial strategy, risk and governance, AFL compliance and integrity, and the performance of our Finance and IT functions. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Reporting directly to the CEO, the key areas of responsibilities will include: Lead all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, end of month processes, statutory reporting, treasury, and internal controls. Lead the annual budget and quarterly reforecast processes, delivering high-quality budget packs and financial insights to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Board. Overseeing the Clubs risk management and governance framework, along with compliance and integrity related matters Lead all AFL financial compliance obligations, ensuring adherence to league regulations, reporting standards, and timelines. Provide strategic advice, financial oversight and analysis to support long-term asset growth and financial sustainability. Oversee the Clubs IT function to ensure systems, infrastructure, cyber security and data governance support operational and strategic needs. Oversee the operation and performance of the Clubs non-core revenue streams, including the Future Fund and investment portfolio. Support the Company Secretary and Board Committees to ensure effective governance, statutory compliance, and informed decision-making. Lead, develop, and empower a high-performing Finance and IT team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and excellence. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE You are a financial professional with a tertiary degree in Commerce, Accounting or a related discipline, with a CPA or CA Accreditation. Beyond this technical ability, you are an experienced and strategic senior finance leader. You have excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation, including boards and committees. You have a deep understanding of governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks with the ability to translate complex financial information for diverse audiences, balancing financial discipline with organisational ambition. You are self-motivated, result-driven professional who thrives in a dynamic, high-performance environment. Experience within the AFL, sports and/or entertainment industry is highly desirable.
