The Australian Orthopaedic Association is seeking an Operations Manager for our Clinical Studies/Data Analytics Unit (CSU/DAU) in Adelaide. The opportunity This position is a 12month opportunity, with potential for extension. The successful candidate will undertake operational management activities for both the CSU and DAU portfolios. The role supports and coordinates the implementation of clinical trial projects/studies and data management, leveraging the AOA infrastructure. The role reports to the Executive Manager, ACE. It involves coordination, oversight and management of a team of eight staff as well as liaising and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external, in relation to data gathering, monitoring and reporting activities. The role will develop and maintain project documentation including plans, updates & reports, and will assist in meeting ethics requirements. It will undertake a variety of complex administrative duties in support of project objectives, including supporting the ACE, Advocacy and Strategy Executive Manager as required, and will participate in and support integration and liaison with other AOA activities. In particular, this role involves Supporting two small project teams to undertake a range of highlevel project coordination duties for clinical studies/trials and data analytics, including working with stakeholders to scope and plan project deliverables, monitoring and reporting against budget, timeframes and other performance indicators, managing a schedule of project meetings and planning and implementing change management strategies as they relate to the portfolio Planning, undertaking and overseeing project related tasks, ensuring they are completed in accordance with agreed standards and timeframes With assistance from Manager CSU, acting as a key liaison point and subject matter expert (core project activities) in relation to project progress and objectives with a range of stakeholders Coordinating the required Steering Group, Working Group and other project meetings, including meeting agendas, minutes and actions Contributing to and preparing reports for Steering Committees and Working Groups Preparing highquality position papers, briefings, reports and presentations for a range of audiences Enrolling data collection sites, hospitals and surgeons Monitoring and supporting data collection sites With the assistance of Manager CSU, identifying and reporting on risks to projects and implementing risk mitigation strategies Monitoring project progress against the timeline and budget, and implementing appropriate, efficient and timely adjustments to both Preparing, submitting and maintaining records of ethics applications across various ethics committees and hospital approval processes Overseeing the ethical conduct of the studies and lodging amendments and reports to ethics committees as required Devising and implementing methods to enhance participant recruitment, retention and management in consultation with the CSU Manager Building and sustaining relationships with an extensive network of internal and external stakeholders to support project objectives To be successful in this role, applicants will have: Degree qualification in a relevant field with extensive relevant experience; or Extensive experience and management expertise of complex projects in clinical trials and data management An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training Additionally, the appointee will have the following knowledge and skills: Demonstrated intermediate to senior level project management skills with a record of successfully coordinating or supporting projects (clinical trials/studies) through to completion in accordance with agreed standards, timeframes and budgets Ability to supervise and support two small teams to achieve project outcomes Highly developed planning and organisational skills, with experience establishing priorities, allocating resources and meeting deadlines Demonstrated capacity to provide formal and informal leadership in a complex project Highlydeveloped relationship management skills, including the ability to interact with, and gain cooperation from a variety of stakeholders Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including experience in developing professional documentation and presenting information Advanced computer literacy with experience in the use of project management software and related application capabilities Experience in and knowledge of the health/hospital system within Australia About the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) The Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) is the peak professional organisation for orthopaedic surgery in Australia.
