About this role: The Integration Aide is an experienced support to students and teachers in a professional learning and teaching environment with a strong sense of empathy and care. The primary role of an Integration Aide is to support the integration of specific student(s), by direct support, or assisting the class teacher in the overall integration process. Job tasks and responsibilities: Support teachers in the delivery of educational programs to students with disabilities, impairments and/or at risk students and ensure that these students have access to and participate safely in school activities. Ensure that the student being assisted and yourself are not an isolated unit within the classroom and are actively participating. Be aware of the teachers expectations of the students in the classroom and to support teachers in the modification of the students program i.e. Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) or goals. Work cooperatively with teachers, students, and Student Support Coordinator Maintain confidentiality of children with special needs. Programs must not be discussed with anyone other than those responsible for the wellbeing of the student. Observe school rules, procedures, practices, policies as well as acting in accordance with the Sirius College values, treating all students and staff with respect. Undertake relevant administrative duties which may be assigned by the teacher to ensure cohesive flow of information. tasks may include organisation of resources, filing and photocopying. Supervise an integration student in the playground if deemed necessary and observe safety and social interaction. Knowledge Skills & Abilities: As a minimum, hold a Certificate of Education Support or in a related discipline. Must hold, or be willing to obtain a current Working With Children Check (WWCC). Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students and colleagues from culturally diverse backgrounds. Well-developed report writing and oral communication skills. Ability to exercise a high degree of confidentiality and ethical conduct. Commitment to child safety. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of office systems, software as relevant to the position. A commitment to professional learning and growth. Ability to manage and teach students who have intellectual, behavioural and/or social challenges.
