We are seeking a Specialist Learning Support Teacher for our Northam Campus to commence in Term 2, 2026 on a part-time (FTE 0.4 - 2 days per week), permanent basis. About You All applicants will need an excellent understanding of the Australian Curriculum and Syllabus, be a registered teacher within Western Australia and have relevant teaching and tertiary qualifications. Experience working with students who have identified and diagnosed highneed autism, and/or experience developing and delivering Life Skills programs, will be highly desirable. You will need to be comfortable stepping away from traditional classroom teaching practices, to embrace modern teaching methods and technologies including video conferencing and online resources. Essential Experience Expertise in neurodiversity: Demonstrated experience in supporting students with Down Syndrome and broader neurodiverse needs. Individualised education planning: Proven ability to develop and implement personalised learning programs, with strong skills in differentiation and adjustment documentation (aligned to NCCD). Collaboration: Capacity to work closely with classroom teachers, families, allied health professionals, and support staff to create a consistent approach. Behaviour and engagement strategies: Familiarity with traumainformed practice, PBS (Positive Behaviour Support), and approaches like Kids Do Well If They Can (Ross Greene). Communication supports: Understanding of AAC, visuals, and strategies for supporting expressive/receptive language. Leadership within support: Ability to mentor, coordinate, and upskill colleagues in inclusive practice. Personal care and dignity: Ability to provide respectful support with toileting and hygiene needs, following student care plans, maintaining confidentiality, and upholding the students dignity at all times.
