About the Role We are seeking a people-centric, community-spirited and culturally capable Welfare & Wellbeing Officer to join the McHugh Steel team. This pivotal role will support our growing cohort of PALM workers by providing handson welfare assistance, fostering strong community connections, and ensuring workers are safe, supported, and set up for success. This is a rewarding, handson role supporting PALM workers throughout their employment journey ensuring they are safe, supported, connected, and thriving both at work and in the community. As the Welfare & Wellbeing Officer, you will: Provide pastoral care and practical support, including assistance with accommodation, transport, medical appointments, travel, and community connections Act as the first point of contact for worker enquiries and concerns Identify wellbeing, safety, or workplace issues early and elevate where required Support worker arrivals, inductions, and departures Liaise between workers, host employers, service providers, and internal teams Promote health, safety, and wellbeing, including conducting toolbox talks and supporting WHS requirements Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with PALM program requirements Provide outofhours support when needed, including evenings and weekends Provide administrative support to the HR team as required About You You will bring: Experience in welfare support, community services, workforce coordination, or a similar role Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with culturally diverse groups Excellent communication and problemsolving skills Sound judgement and the ability to manage sensitive situations professionally Strong organisational and administrative capability A current Drivers Licence Flexibility to respond to afterhours matters when required Experience working with Pacific Island communities or within the PALM Program will be highly regarded Ready to Apply?
