The opportunity MSI Australia is seeking a bold, future-focused Director - Nursing & Operations to join our Executive Team and lead our national clinical network into its next phase of growth and innovation. This is a pivotal executive leadership role for a commercially minded nursing leader who thrives on building high-performing teams, strengthening clinical governance, and expanding services in a financially sustainable way. About us MSI Australia is the only national, independently accredited provider of safe abortion, miscarriage, vasectomy and contraception services. For almost 20 years, we have supported more than 600,000 Australians to access safe, evidence-based sexual and reproductive healthcare, while contributing to global reproductive health outcomes through our international partnerships. We operate seven integrated clinics and day hospitals across Australias capital cities, alongside a rapidly growing national telehealth platform and virtual aftercare service. Our model integrates medical, nursing, psychosocial and digital care pathways; ensuring patients are supported clinically, emotionally and practically throughout their journey. The role This role requires a leader who is unapologetically committed to reproductive choice and who understands the responsibility of leading in a sector that is clinically complex, politically sensitive, and socially essential. Reporting to the CEO and working as a core member of the Executive Team, you will have enterprise accountability for: clinical governance, quality and risk across all services operational and financial performance of our integrated clinics and day hospitals National telehealth growth and virtual models of care Workforce strategy, capability and succession planning service expansion, new models of care and sustainable growth Position title Director - Nursing and Operations Location MSI Australia - Richmond Support Office (Melbourne). Reports to Chief Executive Officer Duration Permanent, Full-Time Position Hours of work 76 Hours per fortnight Responsibilities You will lead a multidisciplinary workforce across in-clinic, day hospital and virtual environments, ensuring safe, consistent and high-performing service delivery nationally. This role requires a leader who can confidently balance quality, access and margin, in a highly regulated and politically complex sector. Key responsibilities include Provide executive leadership across sexual and reproductive health services nationally Lead and mentor a national clinical workforce across multiple jurisdictions Strengthen governance frameworks aligned with NSQHS and ACORN standards Drive operational efficiency, productivity and financial performance Identify and implement scalable service models and growth opportunitiesPartner with the Executive Team on strategy, business planning, and transformation Lead to embed a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement What were looking for Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration Proven senior leadership experience in complex clinical environments Strong commercial and financial acumen with demonstrated budget , strategic business planning and P&L accountability Demonstrated success leading service growth, transformation, or expansion Advanced knowledge of clinical governance and regulatory frameworks Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills A clear commitment to reproductive choice and access to care Desirable (but not essential) Postgraduate or leadership qualifications Experience in sexual and reproductive health Project or change management experience Why join us?
