About the Role This is a unique opportunity for an individual to lead with authenticity, foster strong relationships, and create lasting impact through inclusive and respectful engagement. Youll lead the delivery of community engagement and outreach with Aboriginal Carers, communities and organisations, build relationships with Aboriginal community stakeholders, attend cultural events, and coordinate the Aboriginal Carer Panel, helping shape better outcomes for Aboriginal Carers and their families. Carers SA is seeking an individual who brings cultural knowledge, community connections, and a strong commitment to walking alongside Aboriginal Carers. Were looking for someone to step into the new role of Aboriginal Community Engagement Officer to: Deliver community engagement sessions and information sessions that increase awareness about Aboriginal Carers and supports available Collaborate with team members to create accessible and culturally appropriate communications for Aboriginal Carers and stakeholders Build and strengthen respectful partnerships with Aboriginal communities and organisations Share knowledge about Carers SA supports and services Help more Aboriginal people who care for family or community to recognise themselves as Carers and feel confident connecting with Carers SA Attend events, yarn with community groups, and raise awareness about Aboriginal Carers and supports available Support and grow the First Nations Carer Panel, helping to amplify the voice of Aboriginal Carers About You This is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified position. Youll bring strong cultural knowledge and are a confident communicator who can build and maintain trust and connection within the Aboriginal community. You will also have: Proven experience engaging with Aboriginal communities and delivering outreach activities Stakeholder and community connections within the Aboriginal community Excellent public speaking, relationship building and communication skills A genuine commitment to supporting Aboriginal Carers An understanding of the barriers Aboriginal Carers face and how to overcome them Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team A current drivers license, DHS Working with Children Check, and National Police Check Experience working with Carers Lived experience as a Carer Relevant qualifications in Social or Community Services Why Join Us?
