Job Description

What Youll Be Doing Atturra is seeking two highly experienced TierA Operational Environment and Effects (OEE) senior planners and three experienced planners for TierB OEE planning across the Advanced Collective Training (ACT) programme. These roles provide operational, environmental, and sustainment planning expertise to ensure exercises reflect credible, contemporary, and realistic conditions. The Roles Are OEE Lead Operational Focus (COMD/G3/J3 Equivalent) TierA OEE Senior Planner Information & Awareness (G2/J2 Equivalent) TierA TierB OEE Planners Rank Requirements TierA OEE Lead: Minimum O6 level competence/capacity; COL status not required. TierA OEE Senior Planner: Minimum O5 level; LTCOL status not required. TierB OEE Planners: Minimum O4 level; MAJ status not required and at least two positions must be filled by individuals from Combat Arms or Combat Support backgrounds. Key Responsibilities TierA Support design and development of realistic exercise scenarios. Prepare structured planning material and supporting documentation. Participate in planning conferences, design workshops and working groups. Provide subjectmatter expertise within each functional domain. Contribute to alignment of exercise design with training objectives. Support planning, synchronisation and activity coordination during execution phases. Assist with reviews, observations and reporting for continuous improvement. Collaborate with other planners, coach staff and engage training stakeholders. Working Environment & Conditions TierA Townsville based personnel preferred; highperforming remote candidates considered. Engagement profile: up to 150 days in FY26/27 and 75 days in FY27/28. Permanent parttime positions. Travel to various Defence locations (up to 15 trips annually). Standard work hours during planning; extended hours may be required during major activities. Work may be conducted across barracks, headquarters or preapproved remote sites. All outputs must comply with Defence information management practices. TierB OEE Planners TierB planners work directly with Core Events Lead Planners, supporting exercise design, scenario development, planning coordination and integration of realistic environmental and organisational factors into major training activities. Key Responsibilities TierB Support exercise planning and scenario development within assigned Core Events teams. Provide environmental, organisational and contextual input during exercise design. Produce highquality planning artefacts that support activity preparation and execution. Assist with synchronisation of planning timelines, integration of training elements and alignment with training objectives. Represent OEE considerations and provide functional advice during planning forums. Support planning for activity control measures, timelines and coordination requirements. Assist during execution phases by supporting coordination, responding to planningrelated requests and contributing to activity management processes. Assist with postexercise reviews, reporting and continuous improvement processes. Understudy TierA OEE planners and provide functional depth across operational, situational and sustainment planning considerations. Working Environment & Conditions TierB Townsville preferred; remote arrangements may be considered for the right candidates. Up to 220 days in FY26/27 and 110 days in FY27/28 per planner. Permanent fulltime positions. Travel up to 15 trips per year to Defence locations and training areas. Standard planning hours apply, with potential extended periods during major activities. Work will occur in barracks, headquarters or approved remote settings. All documentation and deliverables must comply with Defence information management requirements. Why Join Atturra? Senior military planning experience at O6 (Colonel) for the operational lead and O5 (Lieutenant Colonel) for the information role. Demonstrated experience in formationlevel or higher headquarters planning. Understanding of landbased training, collective training design and exercise management. Ability to produce highquality planning artefacts and documentation. Strong communication skills and confidence engaging senior Defence stakeholders. Experience in joint or multiagency planning environments desirable. Ability to work independently and as part of an integrated planning team. Ability to travel domestically for planning events and training activity support. What Will Make You Successful TierB NV1 security clearance minimum (NV2 highly desirable). Military planning experience at O4 level or higher. Demonstrated experience contributing to largescale training, planning cycles or operational design processes. Ability to prepare clear, structured planning material and articulate planning considerations to diverse stakeholders. Strong communication, collaboration and timemanagement skills. Experience working in multidisciplinary or joint planning environments beneficial. Ability to travel domestically for planning activities and exercise support.
