Geology Internship If you''re studying geology and want to see your learning come to life in the field, a BHP Geology Internship is the perfect place to start. Geology is fundamental to everything we do, from understanding ore bodies and modelling resources, to shaping mine designs, supporting safe operations and guiding longterm planning. Degrees We Consider Geology / Geological Sciences Earth Sciences / Environmental Earth Science Geophysics Geoscience or Applied Geoscience About The Role Youll spend 1012 weeks at one of our operational sites over the summer, gaining handson experience and learning from the people who keep our business running. Youll work with graduates, technical specialists and fellow interns while building skills and connections that support your career. Youll meet leaders across the business and gain early exposure to the scale of the resources sector, with many interns later joining our Graduate Program or returning for additional internships depending on their stage of study. Working arrangements differ across our assets, and opportunities can be FIFO roles or based locally near our mining operations, depending on the location. What We Are Looking For Were looking for students who are curious about the earth, eager to learn, and ready to apply their geological knowledge in operational environments. Youll be someone who enjoys investigating how rock formations, structures and ore bodies influence mining, asks thoughtful questions, and is motivated to see how geological principles translate into realworld decisions on site and a curiosity for the solutions that will help build a better world. A genuine interest in geology and how geological models, ground conditions, resource understanding and structural interpretation support safe and productive mining operations. Strong analytical and observational skills, with the ability to interpret field data, think critically and contribute to geological insights and improvement ideas. A commitment to safety, recognising that understanding the ground and its behaviour is fundamental to safe operations and sound geological practice. Adaptability and resilience, as youll work in both fieldbased and officebased settings across dynamic operational environments. Clear communication and teamwork, enabling you to collaborate effectively with geologists, engineers and operational teams. To be eligible, youll be in your second to penultimate year of a Geology Engineering (or geologyaligned) degree and available to complete a 1012week internship over the 2026/27 summer period.
