OverviewFriends of the Community Inc - Supported by Cockburn Volunteer Centre Spearwood WAFriends of the Community are looking for a BBQ Cook to assist with cooking sausages, onions, burgers, bacon and eggs. Served to the Community at local Cockburn events. You will gain skills in food service, food preparation and handling and working with a team. You will be working with a vibrant, fun loving group of people of all ages. If you enjoy being part of a friendly group and are happy to cook a sausage or two... or more we would love to meet you today!All funds raised are returned to the community through Aged, Disabled and Disadvantaged. Friends of the Community Inc. are a not-for-profit organisation assisting those less fortunate in the community; they believe everyone should have access to the same opportunity. Charitable donations include ongoing high school scholarships assisting students in year 11 and 12 to achieve their goal of higher education. Contributions have also been made to Allied Health Assistance, Guide Dogs WA, Different Modalities for better health, Assist Youth with Programs, Healthy Meals Program and more.ResponsibilitiesPrepare and cook foods for community events (sausages, onions, burgers, bacon and eggs).Serve prepared food to attendees at local Cockburn events.Work with a team in a community service setting.Develop skills in food service, food preparation and food handling.Qualifications and expectationsExperience or willingness to learn basic food preparation and cooking for group events.Ability to work as part of a friendly, volunteer team.Reliability and commitment to regular volunteering in the stated time frame.DetailsCategory: Community ServicesCommitment: Regular - more than 6 monthsType Of Work: Food Preparation & ServiceTime Required: September to JuneThe approximate number of days or hours required per week varies and is reliant on events booked and food preparation requirements. Most events are on weekends and public holidays; some may be during the week in summer. Most events require between 4 to 6 hours with breaks where possible.
