About Cannington Our Cannington operation is one of the world''s largest producers of silver and lead. Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville. Flights are direct to the onsite airport, and the mine is only 3.5 km from campthe perfect distance for a sunset walk or run home along a purposebuilt walking track. What South32 Offers 26 weeks fullpaid, or 52 weeks halfpaid parental leave for primary carers 14% superannuation contributions Ability to purchase up to 4 weeks of additional annual leave The opportunity to become a shareholder of South32 through our share plans Education assistance up to $8,000 per year About the Role This role is a permanent position on an 8:6 roster, Thursday to Thursday, FIFO from Brisbane or Townsville, or DIDO from Mount Isa, Cloncurry and McKinlay shires. Cannington has a dynamic, permanent emergency response team which is supplemented and supported by volunteer Emergency Response Team members. These volunteers take on ERT responsibilities in addition to their substantive roles from various departments across the operation. As the Emergency Response Officer, you will play a key role in Canningtons emergency management structure and would be required to respond to incidents at any point during your time on site. Other key responsibilities include, but arent limited to: Lead emergency response training and ensure content stays current and effective Maintain and service emergency response equipment for full operational readiness Carry out maintenance on portable fire equipment, underground systems and freshair chambers Uphold Canningtons safety and health standards through proactive workplace engagement About You You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: Prior experience in a mine rescue or industry equivalent role Commitment to a positive safety culture Proven ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks efficiently Able to adapt to dynamic deadlines with precision and ease Qualifications for this position are: Cert III Mine Emergency Response and Rescue Cert IV pre-hospital care (desirable) Cert IV Trainer assessor (desirable) Cert III Public Safety (Firefighting) (desirable) Medium Rigid truck licence or higher (or ability to obtain) High Risk Work Licence Rigging, Dogging, Forklift South32 is committed to building and maintaining an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the communities in which we operate.
