You will be contributing to our role as the national regulator to safeguard and protect older Australians receiving aged care services.About the Regulatory Operations DivisionThe Regulatory Operations Division (ROD) is responsible for monitoring, assessing, and enforcing compliance across the aged care sector. ROD includes several branches:Audit: Conducts audits of aged care services against the Quality StandardsRisk Intake and Inspectorate: Investigates complaints and incidents and conducts inspections to ensure provider complianceRegistrar: Assesses applications for provider registration under the new Aged Care ActCompliance and Enforcement: Manages investigations and regulatory actions for noncompliance with aged care legislationPlease note that some roles require mobility and travel, including overnight staysAbout the RoleThe Commission has multiple opportunities available in our Regulatory Operations Division in the Audit, Risk Intake Inspectorate, Registrar and Compliance and Enforcement. The candidates may be placed in any of the branches and will perform duties related to audits, inspections, or assessments of aged care services.Auditor: Yes, candidates will work under the direction of the Lead Auditor and Assistant Director Audit and be responsible for conducting scheduled audits for Category 6 (residential) and Category 4 and 5 (home care) aged care providers.Registry Assessor: Yes, candidates will be responsible for managing and conducting assessments of new entrants and registered providers as set out under the new Aged Care Act 2024 and relevant legislation.Compliance Officer/Investigator: Yes, candidates will be responsible for applying legislative frameworks, analysing risk and casemanaging matters to resolution, investigating issues, and preparing enforcement case documentation.Position DutiesConducting audits, inspections, or assessments of aged care provideReviewing documentation and evidence to determine complianEngaging with providers, older people, and stakeholdePreparing reports and recommendatioSupporting regulatory decisionmakiLeading or contributing to teams and projecParticipating in fieldbased work and travel as requirComprehensive training will be provided to support your success in the role.Position Eligibility RequirementsApply sound judgment and integrity in decisionmakCommunicate clearly and respectfully with diverse stakeholdAnalyze complex information and prepare evidencebased repoWork collaboratively in team environmeManage competing priorities and meet deadliUnderstand or quickly acquire knowledge of aged care legislation and regulatory framewoDemonstrate adaptability, curiosity, and a commitment to public servUse digital tools and systems confidenAdditional Position RequirementsEssential requirements: A current unrestricted licence is essential to support the travel expectations of the role.Vaccination requirements: Have had a seasonal influenza and COVID19 vaccination.Travel requirements: Occasional interstate/intrastate travel may be required. Optional local, interstate and intrastate travel for fieldbased work. Travel requiring overnight stay is expected two weeks out of every four weeks, ranging from 14 nights. Staff will be consulted where additional overnight travel is required. Appointment is conditional on successfully completing a national police check.The intention of this selection process is to establish a merit pool to be used to fill various roles in the Regulatory Operations Division, both immediate and future vacancies.Ongoing (permanent) and nonongoing (temporary) positions may be offered from the merit pool.
