As the only female doctor in the practice, you can expect to do quite a lot of womens health, so an interest in this area would be beneficial.The OrganisationLilydale (population 600) is a farming community situated only 25 minutes from Launceston in the foothills of Mt Arthur. Nearby the Pipers River wine region, bushwalking, the internationally renowned Barnbougle Lost Farm Golf Resort, Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm, Hollybank Wilderness Adventures and weekend markets are just some of the attractions on offer. As a satellite town of Launceston, there is interest from young families looking for a rural lifestyle and the district school caters from kindergarten to year 12.Accredited by AGPAL, Lilydale Family Health Care is the only general practice in the town. The practice is owned by a retired pharmacist couple who have lived and worked in the district for nearly 40 years. The team comprises three full-time doctors, two part-time nurses, a practice manager and two receptionists. There is a pathology collection centre on site, and allied health professionals (physiotherapist, podiatrist and dietitian) attend regularly on a visiting basis.Lilydale Family Health Care attracts patients from across the north-east region, with many new patients coming from Bridport, Scottsdale and beyond. There is a significant number of elderly patients.The practice is open Monday to Friday, closed on weekends, and after-hours calls are triaged through the healthdirect service.
