We help support them to become responsible members of the community; providing trauma-informed support and resources to victims to ensure they can recover and heal, whilst ensuring the voices and experiences of victims are heard and respected. Our programs and community partnerships preserve cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to achieve positive life outcomes. As Practice Support Officer, You Will Specifically Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In collaboration with management, collate incident information and reviews for the Practice Support Manager and Incident Review Group to assess compliance with legislation, policy and practice. Manage the collection and analysis of incident related data, reports and records to inform detention centre business units of incident review findings. Monitor and collate information on the use of CCTV and Body Worn Cameras, in particular to the identified benefits these provide in the management of young people, security enhancement, and as the primary source of truth for complaint management and investigations. Assist the Manager Practice Support, the Client Relations Manager, and the Senior Intel Officer with information relating to incident, complaint and contraband investigations utilising policy and practice documentation, incident records and reports, and CCTV and BWC evidence as guides. Liaise with and provide documentation and information to other agencies including Youth Justice, Professional Standards, YJS Inspectorate, Queensland Police Service, Right to Information branch, Crown Law and the Queensland Ombudsman. Produce summaries in regard to issues such as night observation audits, use of force, separations, handcuffs, Body Worn Camera usage, completeness and accuracy of incident reports, for review by the Practice Support Manager and the Incident Review Group. Review, assess and test training modules prior to deployment. Prepare and deliver Body Worn Camera training for all inductees. Self-manage priorities to meet required reporting time frames and allocate, prioritise and perform tasks in accordance with departmental policy and procedures within a statutory framework. Prepare and submit reports and records using the department''s IT system in an accurate and timely manner. Communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and understand the cultures and issues which impact upon them in today''s society.
