About the role This is a full-time, ongoing position supporting the day-to-day operations of the pound facility. Working closely with the Regulatory Services Operational Coordinator, the Pound Attendant ensures high standards of animal care, welfare, and facility cleanliness are maintained. The role involves feeding and monitoring animals, cleaning and disinfecting kennels and equipment, and ensuring animals are handled safely and humanely. The position also assists with assessing animals suitable for rehoming, preparing animals for release, and supporting veterinary treatment where required. In addition, the Pound Attendant undertakes administrative tasks associated with impounding and releasing animals, maintains accurate records, manages basic stock supplies, and provides helpful information to members of the public on pound procedures and responsible animal ownership. Strong teamwork, flexibility, and a commitment to excellent customer service are essential in this role. About you You have a genuine commitment to animal welfare and experience in animal handling or husbandry, supported by a Certificate II in Animal Care/Animal Studies or relevant practical experience. You are physically capable of working in a hands-on environment, including safely handling animals and equipment. You bring a strong customer service focus and are confident working both independently and as part of a team. With good attention to detail, you are comfortable completing basic administrative tasks, maintaining accurate records, and handling payments where required.
