About the role We are seeking a practical Mechanical Technician to join our Project Execution Team, supporting the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment within our R&D and manufacturing facility as well as Hysatas first commercial Hydrogen Electrolyser systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in an industrial plant environment or manufacturing facility, have a practical can-do attitude and solid understanding of operational and maintenance practices. Being a key member of a new multi-skilled team, youll be willing to do what is needed to achieve company goals. The role is based in Australia at our onsite at manufacturing facility in Port Kembla but will have a requirement for overseas travel to support the installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance of our commercial units. Role responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, associated piping systems and industrial manufacturing units;Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, recommending corrective actions;Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and safety;Assist with contractor management;Assist in commissioning and startup of new systems;Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and industry regulations;Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance; andCollaborate with operations and engineering teams to optimize equipment performance. What you''ll bring Proven experience in mechanical equipment installation and maintenance, particularly pumps, valves, and pressure piping;Familiarity with industrial plant operations and maintenance practices;Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals;Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail;Knowledge of safety procedures and regulatory compliance;Excellent communication and teamwork skills;Experience in working in hazardous areas highly regarded;Experience with heavy lifting, rigging and work around cranes;Trade certification or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field;Experience with rotating equipment and pressure systems in industrial environments;Stainless Steel welding experience highly regarded; andBasic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
