We are seeking a Pastoral Carer (Chaplain) to join our Residential Care team in Northern Tasmania, supporting residents at MtEsk and Glenara Lakes. As a Pastoral Carer, you will walk alongside residents and their loved ones, offering emotional and spiritual support, facilitating reflection and prayer, and helping individuals find comfort, meaning, and dignity throughout their aged care journey. This is not a clinical or personal care role. The Pastoral Carer provides spiritual, emotional, and pastoral support to residents and their loved ones through conversation, reflection, prayer, and a compassionate presence. This meaningful role is central to our Catholic health and aged care mission, supporting each persons spiritual wellbeing and helping them experience comfort, dignity, and a sense of purpose throughout their aged care journey. As a Pastoral Carer, you will accompany residents and families through times of reflection, transition, grief, and celebration, offering support that honours the whole person. About the Role Reporting to the Facility Manager, you will provide skilled and compassionate Pastoral Care services grounded in dignity, spiritual integrity, and respect. You will: Provide Pastoral Support Offers spiritual and emotional care to residents, families, and staff Be a compassionate, calming presence for those needing comfort Support residents in times of illness, transition, grief, and reflection Provide onetoone visits and pastoral conversations Facilitate sacramental ministry in collaboration with clergy Lead or assist with prayer, memorial, and funeral services Coordinate clergy visitation and maintain strong relationships with all denominations Build Meaningful Relationships Engage gently and respectfully with residents to understand their spiritual preferences Support residents in expressing their spiritual identity and personal story Work collaboratively with nurses, carers, and allied health staff to ensure holistic care Guide and support pastoral care volunteers and visiting clergy Contribute to Quality & Continuous Improvement Complete pastoral assessments and care plans Document pastoral care notes in accordance with SCC policies Participate in team meetings, ongoing training, and professional development Support SCCs commitment to the Aged Care Standards Who Were Looking For We are seeking someone who brings warmth, humility, and genuine care as well as the skills needed to support the spiritual wellbeing of older persons.
