You will have a chance to make a real difference to your local communities and to the lives of those you work with.About the roleThe Justice Health and Wellbeing Service (JHWS) delivers a range of holistic, evidence-based and culturally responsive health care and wellbeing services for patients and clients across the Western Australian custodial estate. With a commitment to delivering high-quality care in one of the most complex and restrictive environments, the Service encompasses primary health care; mental health care; alcohol and other drug services; psychological, prevention and wellbeing services; pharmacy services; allied health care and tertiary care referral services.Banksia Hill Youth Detention Centre will provide an integrated model of management for young people who are at risk of self-harm and suicide and young people experiencing acute mental health issues. The Crisis Care Unit (CCU) will be collaboratively led by a Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) and reflect evidence based best practice for the management of these young people that is culturally sensitive and reflective of that young persons unique needs and experiences.The Aboriginal Mental Health Worker (AMHW) works as a member of the multidisciplinary team across all areas of the Banksia Hill Youth Detention Centre to enhance the accessibility of mental health services to young Aboriginal people and participates in the development, planning, delivery and evaluation of care and management planning and delivery with special reference to the needs of Aboriginal youth.To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.The Department recognises Aboriginality as a genuine qualification for this position under 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984.
