Join to apply for the Detail Designer role at Ferguson Marine (Port Glasgow) LimitedJob Title: Outfit Detail DesignerReports to: Head of EngineeringLocation: Port GlasgowDepartment: EngineeringSalary: CompetitiveKey Duties And ResponsibilitiesCreate detailed 2D design layouts and arrangements, taking into consideration client requirements and safety regulationsLiaise with electrical, mechanical and structural teams to manage technical queriesWork closely with the customer and subcontractors to address any design-related issues or concernsReview and modify designs based on feedback from internal and external stakeholdersCarry out on-site vessel reviews to assist with drawing creation and support Production teamsRequisition materials from BoMs and work with the Procurement team when suppliers suggest alternative materialsReview 3D model and consult with European Design Team where requiredComplete drawings efficiently and ensure all outputs are aligned to Planning and Production schedulesEnsure designs meet regulatory class requirementsAdhere to all health and safety guidelines appropriate to the rolePerson SpecificationExcellent communication skills, for both internal and external stakeholdersStrong problem-solving skillsContinuous improvement mindsetSelf-starter, able to follow output schedules and work to deadlinesRequired Knowledge, Qualifications & ExperienceProficient use of AutoCAD (or similar design software) and Microsoft OfficeMinimum of 4 years drawing office or detail design experience, preferably within the commercial shipbuilding industryA good understanding of ship outfitting requirements and UK passenger ship regulationsHNC/HND/relevant time-served apprenticeship preferredHVAC and structural knowledge an advantageProduction experience an advantageBenefitsYou''ll receive a competitive benefits package and access to our Perk Box rewards scheme.Why Ferguson Marine?With 120 years of expertise, Ferguson Marine is proudly looking to the future.We plan to invest in modern technology and infrastructure that can deliver worldclass vessels, fabrication and engineering services for centuries to come.This is a place where you''ll be able to make a real difference.
