Construction provides a strong and consistent focus on building industry capability through strategic stakeholder engagement, evidence and risk-based harm prevention initiatives, and proportionate and targeted regulator response to construction incidents and requests for serviceYour responsibilities will includeConducting inspections and investigations to improve workplace safety outcomesDelivering education and engagement programs for workers and employersResponding to serious workplace incidents as part of the emergency response serviceProviding practical advice and guidance to industry and stakeholdersParticipating in the planning and development of targeted projects to reduce harm in workplaces and support SafeWork NSW Regulatory Priorities.For more information on the role and its accountabilities, click here to view the role description.About youExcellent communication skills to engage and influence key stakeholders to improve safety outcomesDemonstrated resilience and ability to work independentlyAbility to manage competing prioritiesAbility to prepare accountable records including technical reports, statutory notices and contribute to the development and review of technical and operational policies, procedures, and documents.Identify non-compliance with legislation and recommend appropriate strategies to enable PCBU''s to achieve complianceProvide technical support to internal and external stakeholders on issues relating to work health & safetyProvide excellent customer service at all timesTo be successfulYou will bring technical expertise, sound judgement and a strong commitment to workplace health and safety. To succeed in this role, you will:Apply your experience in WHS, compliance and enforcement to deliver improved safety outcomesBuild trusted relationships and influence stakeholders to achieve sustainable changeCommunicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, to a diverse audience including industry, unions and government stakeholdersDemonstrate resilience and professionalism when responding to complex, high-pressure situationsContribute to organisational objectives by supporting colleagues and leading by exampleIn joining SafeWork NSW, you will be rewarded with a great opportunity to apply your experience with your passion for workplace health and safety.You will:Work a 38-hour working week, including some weekends and participate in the After-Hours Emergency Response ServiceReceive an attractive salary package along with the required tools of the trade, including a vehicle with access to private use (currently at a cost of approximately $210 per fortnight)Be able to access flexible working conditions within operational requirementsAbility to travel, work remotely and out of usual business hoursHold a NSW ''C'' class drivers'' licence with a satisfactory safe driving record and a requirement to maintain the safe driving record throughout employmentSatisfactory criminal record checkSatisfactory medical assessment capacity regarding physical and psychological impacts of the inherent duties of the roleUndertake the 12-month New Inspector Training Program (NITP). This intensive program is delivered by our Registered Training Organisation and combines mandatory components of induction, class training, online learning, completion of set assessments and tasks, and extensive on-the-job field training with regular travel throughout NSW.
