OverviewBASKETBALL NORTHERN TERRITORY (BNT) is the State Governing Body responsible for the development, promotion and governance of basketball across the Northern Territory (NT).BNT is a community and member-based organisation responsible for delivery of high performance programmes, basketball sport introduction and skill development programmes throughout the Northern Territory and organised competitions at all age group and senior levels through the Darwin Basketball League.Child Safeguarding CommitmentBNT has a zero-tolerance policy toward child abuse and neglect. The National Integrity Framework (the Framework) sets the broad expectations for the conduct of all Participants including employees of all Basketball Associations.What is the roleBasketball Northern Territory is seeking their next CEO to take the organsation and its members on the next phase to deliver the strategic plan, lead a values based culture and high performing organsiation.The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), guided by the Board will povides leadership for the organisation including the overall day to day management of all activities, programmes and services delivered by BNT. The CEO role holds significant strategic importance and is responsible for providing high level leadership, vision, and strategic direction across BNT operations. The role is accountable for whole of organisation values management, good governance, financial sustainability, stakeholder engagement and operational excellence.ResponsibilitiesLeadershipImplement the BNT Strategic PlanProvide advice and support to the BNT Board on matters of strategy, governance andleadershipLead and manage the business of BNT to further the objects of the associatioLead and oversee the financial management of the organisationPrepare annual budgets and including financial planning, monthly budgeting andfinancial forecastingReport to the BNT Board on annual and monthly budget performanceCommunications and Stakeholder EngagementEnsure ongoing positive engagement with BA and governemnent agenciesDevelop and build relationships with a range of BNT key stakeholders including but notlimited to BA, other peak bodies, NT sports governing bodies, member associations, basketball clubs and other community bodiesGovernance and ComplianceDrive compliance and the establishment of systems that ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulation and policy relating to the operations of the associationPeople & CultureLead, motivate and develop BNT staff and volunteers whilst promoting a positive workculture consistent with BA and BNT valuesChampion a culture of safety and promote an organisational culture of accountability,customer focus, and continuous improvement.Lead change management initiatives aligned with cultural organisational need andcommitments.Basketball Development & ParticipationOversee the operation and delivery of BNT participation programmes, development pathways and inclusion initiativesProvide support , advice and assistance to BNT members, clubs and key stakeholders to further the objects of the associationHigh Performance & Talent PathwaysEnsure athlete, coach, referee and official, high performance and talent pathways arein place, available to all members and players and consistent with relevantnational programs.Facility ManagementOversee the leasing and operations of the Darwin Basketball Stadium (DBS) and any other assets of BNTIn conjunction and consultation with the BNT Board develop facility maintenance and upgrade programmes for the DBS and any other assets of BNTCoordinate the ongoing and preventative maintenance and upkeep of the BNT workplace and facilities including the DBS.Work Health and SafetyEnsure organisational compliance with Work Health and Safety legislation in theNorthern Territory to protect all employees, members and the community in theworkplaceKey Perforamance Indicators will be negotiated annually by the BNT Board and will be formulated around:Health, safety and wellbeing of peopleGrowth and development of basketball in the Northern TerritoryOrganisational values and cultureWe welcome and encourage applications from individuals of all ethnicities, Aboriginal andTorres Strait Islander peoples, and people with disability.Who are you?Required ExperienceDemonstrated senior leadership experience with a focus on governance and organisational leadershipComprehensive experience in delivering strategic operational priorities especially in a notfor profit, service delivery or sporting environmentStrong financial management experience including the ability to interpret financialreports, preparation of budgets, income generation and cost controlExcellent interpersonal communication and advocacy skills with an ability to negotiateand establish productive relationships.Proven ability in the development of organisational policies, processes and programmesUnderstanding of sports development philosophies and high performance talent pathwaysA high level of personal resilience, integrity, professionalism and a proven ability tomanage sensitive issues.Current or ability to obtain a Working with Children checkCurrent Drivers LicenceThe following skills will also be highly regarded:Tertiary qualifications in business management or sports or similar relevant industryrelate fieldsExperience in leading a sports based, service delivery or not for profit organisationExperience in venue and property management particularly sporting venuesSporting industry experience or comprehensive understanding of the Australian and/orNorthern Territory sporting ecosystemWhats on Offer?Competitive remuneration package, with potential relocation support for the right candidateA unique opportunity to shape the future of basketball in one of Australias mostdiverse and exciting regions.Position InformationReports to Board Basketball NT through the CEOFixed Term 2 year appointmentDue to the nature of the industry the role will require work to be undertaken on someweekends in line with events or competitionsYou must be an Australian citizen, have permanent residency status or a visa permitting you to work in Australia.
