With a strong focus on those who have left school early or are experiencing difficulty entering the workforce, the program equips participants with the confidence, skills, and direction they need to realise their potential and build a brighter future.In this onsite position primarily based in Palmerston, with the expectation of providing coverage in Casuarina as needed, you will work at the heart of meaningful, facetoface engagement with young people navigating complex vocational and nonvocational barriers. As a Youth Employment Specialist, you will champion advocacy, empowerment, and culturally safe practice, fostering trust and motivation in a voluntary service environment. You will draw on creativity, resilience, and strong relationshipbuilding skills to guide young people through personalised support pathwayshelping them explore career options, build capability, and step confidently toward longterm employment or education opportunities.**Your Key Responsibilities*** Engage, mentor, and motivate young people through regular appointments, building trusted relationships that support them in addressing vocational and nonvocational barriers.* Develop tailored Job Plans and action strategies that align with each participants strengths, aspirations, and goals.* Conduct assessments to identify challenges, strengths, and support needs, making culturally secure and appropriate referrals to internal and external services as required.* Facilitate individual and group activities including employability workshops, industry tours, jobreadiness coaching, and confidencebuilding experiences.* Liaise with employers, training providers, and youth services to create employment pathways, schedule interviews, complete jobmatching tasks, and support positive outcomes.* Provide postplacement support for up to 26 weeks, helping young people maintain employment and problemsolve early challenges in the workplace.* Complete highvolume administrative tasks, case notes, CRM updates, and compliance activities, ensuring all documentation aligns with program guidelines and organisational requirements.**Requirements for Success*** Proven ability to engage, support, and motivate young people particularly those experiencing social, educational, or personal challenges in a voluntary participation environment.* Experience working in youth services, employment services, jobactive, community services, or case management (1+ year desirable; also suitable for new graduates).* Strong cultural awareness, including understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander protocols and the ability to build culturally secure relationships.* High level of resilience, adaptability, and problemsolving capability, with the capacity to adjust plans quickly in response to changing participant needs.* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and rapportbuilding skills, with a friendly, approachable, and youthpositive manner.* Strong administrative capability and confidence learning new systems, including accurate case noting, report writing, and meeting KPIs in a fastpaced environment.* Ability to apply program policies and procedures, manage a caseload effectively, and implement practical solutions that address individual vocational and nonvocational barriers to employment.* First Aid & CPR Certificate is desired but not required.* Full driver licence with no restrictions.Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.**Your Benefits**To ensure our employees feel valued, empowered, and celebrated, we provide a range of employee benefits including:* Rewarding work every day you know youre making a real difference* Not-for-profit salary packaging, reducing your tax (details via )* Free external, confidential counselling and access to .* Volunteering opportunities* Extra leave available including an additional public holiday, additional annual leave day on your work anniversary and the opportunity to purchase further annual leave.**Our Culture**Our innovative and inclusive culture will ensure you feel valued at Mission Australia as you help Australians in need and develop in your career.We prioritise the safety and wellbeing of everyone, both within our team and the individuals we serve.We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive working environment.
