Flexible working arrangements are also available to support a healthy work-life balance.Our Perth office is located opposite Kings Park with easy CBD access.The OpportunityIMEC is seeking an experienced SMP Design Drafter to support the delivery of mining infrastructure projects for our global client base.Working under the guidance of the Design Manager, you will contribute to projects ranging from concept design through to Issued for Construction (IFC) deliverables.This role involves modelling and detailing piping systems, pump stations and structural steelwork infrastructure, working closely with engineers and project managers to deliver coordinated project outcomes.You will work across both brownfield mine upgrades and new infrastructure installations, providing practical design solutions for mining operations.Key Responsibilities3D modelling of underground and surface mining infrastructureDevelopment of pipework layouts, pump station designs and structural steel modelsProducing layouts and detail drawings from concept through to detailed design drawings for fabrication.Working with point cloud survey data and mine coordinate systemsProducing accurate bills of materials, DXF sheet metal profiles and NC filesIdentifying and resolving construction, operational and safety issues during designSupporting Engineers and Project Managers during project deliveryPresenting models during internal and client meetingsOccasional site visits for data collectionSkills & ExperienceTo thrive in this role you will have:Minimum 3 years experience in drafting within mining, industrial or heavy industry projectsStrong 3D modelling and technical detailing experienceAutodesk Plant3D proficiency (essential)Autodesk Advance Steel experience (desirable)Experience detailing pipework and pump stations (highly desirable)Structural steel detailing experience (desirable)Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specificationsStrong problem-solving ability and attention to detailAbility to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary teamStrong time management skills and ability to meet project deadlinesWe use Plant3D, Advance Steel, Navisworks and other Autodesk tools to deliver coordinated engineering models and construction documentation.What Youll GetOpportunity to be part of a high-performing and collaborative engineering teamExposure to mining infrastructure projects across Australia and internationallyThe ability to work on projects from concept design through to constructionCollaboration with experienced engineers and designersAccess to modern design technology and softwareOngoing professional development and training opportunitiesFlexible working arrangementsHealth and wellness allowanceBirthday leave and additional team benefitsWhy Join IMEC?IMEC offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative small-business environment where individuals have the autonomy to take ownership of projects and contribute meaningful design solutions.You will gain exposure to structural, civil, mechanical and piping disciplines, helping develop a well-rounded design skillset within the mining industry.Be careful - Dont provide your bank or credit card details when applying for jobs.
