Maintenance / Garden Services (NT-Top End) {Darwin; Casuarina; Palmerston; Coolalinga; Howard Springs; Humpty Doo; Berry Springs; Adelaide River} Overview and role context for a Maintenance / Garden Services position covering the NT Top End region. Responsibilities Maintain lawns, gardens and other green spaces by mowing, trimming, weeding and planting. Seasonal care, pest control, and involvement in installing landscape features to ensure health and aesthetic appeal of the property. General maintenance tasks including lawn care (mowing, edging, healthy grass areas). Planting and pruning of flowers, shrubs, hedges and trees; pruning to maintain shape and health. Weeding to prevent competition with desired plants. Irrigation management: ensuring plants receive adequate water, managing sprinkler systems and monitoring water levels. Fertilizing to promote plant growth and health. Pest and disease identification and control in plants. Maintaining cleanliness of pathways, removing dead plants, and keeping the garden tidy. Seasonal adjustments and care (e.g., preparing plants for winter, managing bulbs in the fall). Customer service: interacting with clients, answering questions and fulfilling requests in residential or public garden settings. Equipment operation: operating and maintaining gardening tools and machinery (lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers). Adhering to safety procedures, using PPE and reporting hazards. Inventory management: monitoring and managing supplies and equipment. In-service training: participate in mandated in-service education programs as required by State law. Working conditions/environment: work primarily at client locations with travel; shift or visit times vary with client needs. Key Selection Criteria (Qualifications) Certificate III Qualification in Aged Care or Home and Community Care. Demonstrated understanding of the needs of the older person in the Home Care Environment and how these needs can be met. Ability to provide holistic, client-focused care using a systematic approach. Effective communication with clients, significant others and other members of the care team. Ability to maintain and promote safety of clients and self, including knowledge of emergency procedures, Work Health and Safety and Infection Control. Knowledge of the legislation applicable to the role of Maintenance / Garden Services in the Home Care Environment.
