Under the immediate direction of the Senior Ranger, participates in a range of activities relating to conservation and land management work within the Perth Hills District including: fabrication, maintenance and installation of infrastructure and equipment; assisting with general park management and maintenance requirements, including visitor information dissemination and education; assists with trail maintenance; feral animal and pest control; and assisting with suppression of bushfire and prescribed burning programs. Selection Criteria Evidence of abilities to participate in manual activities related to the maintenance and construction of departmental assets, including the use of hand tools, power tools chainsaws and small engines. Willingness to wear prescribed safety equipment and to work safely with certified chemicals. Evidence of abilities in being able to liaise and interact in a positive manner. Have good communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively in a team and with limited supervision, when required. Evidence of ability to understand work, health and safety procedures and principles, with a preference for some who has an appreciation of the issues involved in visitor risk management in a land management setting. Experience in working with volunteers and work experience persons and able to handle fees and money collection appropriately.
