Mawarnkarra (MHS) is the largest primary health care provider delivering direct services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in the Roebourne area. MHS provides families of Roebourne with a fully functional and accredited Clinic that treats approximately 3,000 people per year. MHS aspires to be a strong, sustainable and recognised health service that builds healthier communities and positive change for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and those who call Roebourne home.MHS is looking for people who want to make a real difference in the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.The PositionThe role of the Child Health Nurse is to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people through the effective planning and delivery of culturally sensitive care to women and their children aged 0-5 years. Mawarnkarra has built strong partnerships with other service providers, and part of the role of the Child Health Nurse will be to progress and document these partnerships.The Child Health Nurse works in partnership with our midwife to promote child development from postnatal through 6 weeks into the care and support of the child development program.The service outcomes of the Child Development and Maternal Health programs are for Aboriginal children to have increased access to timely and relevant health services that support their growth and development. Both programs share a common resource in the Community Support Worker.Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply. (Refer Section 51 of the Equal Opportunity Act (WA) 1984).DutiesClinical services:Provide education and support to clientsProvide a high level of clinical monitoring, identify developmental delays early and refer to medical and allied health services as indicatedProvide childhood immunisations as per the National Childhood Immunization ScheduleImprove early childhood health outcomes and the achievement of developmental milestones by children in the community so they are healthy, ready to start school, able to learn effectively and thriveWork to integrate childhood maternal and child health, family support services through a place-based approachAgree and implement a plan and key measures to address the communities priorities in helping children to thrive and be ready to start schoolProvide leadership in the delivery of clinical servicesProvide mentorship to other team membersModel best practice evidence-based careProgram implementation and management:Ensure a clear understanding of Mawarnkarra key performance indicators pursuant to contractual obligations for funding of the positionAchieve the key performance indicators for the Child Development Program and any other Child and Maternal Health ProgramsWork with the Midwife in planning and implementing a program that will facilitate optimal outcomes against key performance indicatorsAttend meetings and provide expert input into the various working groups and program management groupsPromote cooperative and collaborative working relationships with other health service providers in the areaReporting and health data responsibilities:Maintain accurate clinical documentation at all timesEnsure that data is accurate, complete and up to dateAbility to learn and use CommunicareRequirementsFull Working Rights in AustraliaRegistered Nurse with AHPRAConsent to undergo a WA Working With Children Check and a National Police ClearanceCurrent CPR certificateAble to pass regular and random drug and alcohol testingRemuneration Benefits include:Base salary - $105,651.00 - $110,916.00 (dependent on experience)District allowance - single $3,055.65 or family $6,111.30Housing allowance - $18,200Electricity Allowance - (paid over summer 10 pay periods) - $1500Wellness Bounce - $500.00Annual Airfare Allowance (after 12 months continuous service) - $1000Annual leave loading (when taken) - 17.5 % of base salarySuperannuation - 12%37.5 Hour working week, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.45pm & Generous salary sacrificing availablePlease note that housing is not included with this role.ApplicationsPlease address the Skills and Experience mentioned above in your Resume/Cover Letter.Apply now or send your resume with a cover letter stating your experience and why you want the role to *******@hmsolutions.com.auMHS may commence appointment proceedings immediately, by invitation or may make no appointment at all.
