Come and join us at SGS and get an opportunity to learn about coal sampling and testing. Job Description Are you ready to join a dynamic team in the heart of Queenslands mining industry? SGS is looking for a motivated Coal Technician to support our operations in Bowen on a casual basis. This role is key to ensuring coal and related samples are prepared and analysed accurately and on time, in line with international standards. What youll do Follow correct procedures for sampling, recording, preparation, analysis, storage, and reporting of coal and related materials. Assist with preventative maintenance of preparation equipment. Work safely, maintaining a safety-aware environment at all times. Use basic CCLAS to book in samples and perform analyses. Carry out routine shipping and exploration project sampling, preparation, and analysis. Plan shift workflows and coordinate sample pick-ups and analyses. Support various areas across testing, sampling, and analytical operations. Contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and pleasant working environment through regular housekeeping. Qualifications What were looking for Previous coal sampling, preparation, or testing experience is preferred but not essential. Basic computer skills (Excel; CCLAS experience is a plus). Experience with float/sink chemicals or handling acids and other chemicals is a bonus. Experience in a general mineral laboratory is advantageous.
